    Highlights

    Day 1

Summary: Arrive in Heraklion, and rent a car there, because most likely you will end your trip in Heraklion too. Chania is the place to go for the start of your journey. Explore the streets of Heraklion and then make your way to Chania to start exploring Crete from there. Get to your accommodation, rest or go swimming.

    Sights and activities:

    Heraklion

Heraklion, Crete’s current capital, assumed that role relatively recently. Named after the ancient Roman harbour of Heracleum, which was most likely located there. Khandaq (Moat) was its new name when it became the capital of Saracen Crete in the ninth century.

    White Mountains Viewpoint

The White Mountains, also known as Lefka Ori, can be found in the region’s centre and are the most prominent geographical feature in West Crete. The White Mountains get their name because they remain snow-capped well into late spring, despite being composed of limestone. Summits of limestone appear white in the summer, too, due to the sun’s reflection.

The exact viewpoint location you’ll find on the map…

    Day 2

Summary: Wake up, eat your great breakfast, and start exploring.

    Sights and activities:

    Topolia Gorge

It is located in the inland area of Kissamos, at the western end of the Chania prefecture. However short in length, the gorge is impressive, and its landscape is wild. The vertical walls reach a height of 300 meters, and the width of the stream bed varies between 5 and 50 meters.

The walk down the gorge, which is fairly easy, requires about one hour.

    Elafonisi Beach

The beach of Elafonisi is a remarkable, windy, and sandy beach located on the Southwest coast of Crete, in the region of Chania prefecture. It’s about 74 km from Chania town.

    Day 3

Summary: Again – Wake up, eat your great breakfast, and continue exploring. You’re going to an amazing place surrounded by palms and the sea to relax, swim and hike a little bit.

    Sights and activities:

    Preveli Beach and Palm Forest

The palm forest of Preveli is the second largest in Crete after the palm forest of Vai. It covers an area of about 40 acres, and it hosts the endemic Cretan palm of Theophrastus. Apart from palm trees, it also hosts osiers, reeds, oleanders, and locust trees. You can walk through and swim in the refreshing river waters.

About 70% of the forest was devastated by a big fire on August 22, 2010, but most of it has recovered. In a short period of time, the forest managed to regenerate and keep alive some of the incinerated palm trees. At the same time, new trees sprouted. The colony of palm trees forms now a small tropical paradise amidst the dry, rocky Mediterranean terrain. It is located 38 km south of Rethymnon, below the monastery of Preveli, at the mouth of the Kourtaliótiko gorge near the famous Preveli beach.

    Day 4

Summary: After a hearty breakfast, take a  Boat Cruise – to Balos Lagoon & Gramvousa from Kissamos Port. You will have an amazing beach day, continuing with a delicious dinner, and watching a magnificent sunset over the sea.

    Sights and activities:

    Balos Lagoon

Balos Lagoon, a popular tourist destination, is situated between Cape Gramvousa and Cape Tigani, to the northwest of Chania, and to the northwest of Kissamos, respectively, and is sheltered by the Platiskinos Mountains. Without a doubt, Balos is Crete’s most photographed beach and a staple of any and all Greece travel books. It was not by chance that Prince Charles and Princess Diana sailed to Balos on their private yacht back in the 1980s.

    Corinna Star Restaurant

Corinna Star Restaurant’s cuisine cruises the sea of taste following the route of simplicity and authenticity, piloted by Mr Yannis and his son, Vassilis.

After a fantastic day at the beach, cap it off with a delicious meal while taking in the sunset over the mountains from the shore.

    Day 5

Summary: After a huge breakfast, it’s time to leave for some more adventures on the other side of Crete. You’re going to Gournes to stay the last nights there, but on the way, you’ll visit some more amazing places, to relax and have fun, maybe to buy some souvenirs too.

    Sights and activities:

    Kournas Lake

Located on the border between Chania and Rethymno, it is surrounded by hills and is only a short distance from the coast. Lake Korisia, thus named by ancient writers, is currently a popular tourist spot. You can see a lot of turtles here, but you’ll need to take a boat across to the other side, where the turtles are living in peace and harmony. If you don’t bother them, you can even communicate with them!

The lake’s water level rises in the winter from nearby mountain sources and falls in the summer, exposing a golden sandy strip. In contrast to the relatively shallow and clear waters near the beach, the deeper and more shady waters may be found in the lake’s centre, which reaches a maximum depth of 22.5m. Observe how its reflective surface reflects the verdant landscape that serves as a sanctuary for the local avifauna and is protected under the Natura 2000 initiative.

There are a lot of souvenir shops nearby, too.

    Day 6

Summary: It’s time for some relaxation and fun all day long in Watercity. If you’re travelling in summer, but if it’s off-season, make sure to explore more of Heraklion because there is a lot to see.

    Sights and activities:

    Watercity Waterpark

Crete’s Biggest Waterpark will offer you many activities throughout the day; it’s better to stay there all day, to catch up with everything. Watercity is a very beautiful place to be and have fun. The ancient Greek theme of the park brings a beautiful and amazing vibe here; make sure to enjoy it to the fullest. You can buy tickets here

    Day 7

Summary: If you’re ready for an amazing adventure full of fun and good vibes, it’s time to go on a Jet Ski Safari at Lottie Watersports and explore a little bit of Rethymno town and grab dinner there.

    Sights and activities:

    Jet Ski Safari

The coastline of Crete is beautiful, and you will venture along it on a Jet Ski for 15km one way (so 30km in total), visiting areas that can only be reached by boat or jet ski. You will, of course, see a very beautiful and interesting coastline, swim between underwater cliffs, and possibly see some goats hanging out on coastal cliffs.

    Day 8

Summary: Today, you’re exploring one of the biggest palm beaches in Europe.

    Sights and activities:

    Vai Beach

The Palm Beach of Vai, also known as Finikodasos, is without a doubt one of the most stunning beaches in all of Crete, if not the entire globe. The largest palm forest in Europe can be found here, and it extends all the way to the shore, making it the top attraction. The beauty of the sandy beach is substantially enhanced by the presence of around 6,000 trees, which provide shade and pleasant strolling space. Vai Beach is located on a small peninsula in northern Crete, away from any major cities. Vai Palm Beach, one of Crete’s most fascinating attractions, was given a Blue Flag in recognition of its outstanding facilities and exceptionally high standards of cleanliness.

    Highlights

    Day 1

Summary: Once you arrive, spend some time seeing the Acropolis and its monuments, taking in the sights and sounds of the city on your way, and exploring other archaeological sites in Athens.

    Sights and activities:

    Acropolis of Athens

The current Acropolis is the consequence of hundreds of years of building and destroying. The majority of the constructions date back to the 5th century BCE, although others, including a temple from the Roman era that was built by Augustus and a massive stairway constructed by Claudius, were added later. During the time that the Ottoman Empire was in control, little homes were also constructed in the area around the Acropolis.

You will get the best experience if you decide to walk there through Athens, in fact, if you have only one day in Athens, by walking, you will find other Archaeological sites on your way. Considering how much time you have, you can explore other sites too.

    Day 2

Summary: Stop via Arachova for breathtaking views of the surrounding area on your route to Delphi, spend some time seeing the ruins at Delphi (don’t miss the stadium!), cool off with a swim at Agios Vasileios Beach, and watch the sunset as you make your way forward.

    Sights and activities:

    Arachova views and village

In the southern Greek region of Viotia, at the base of Mount Parnassos, is the charming mountain village of Arachova. As Greece’s most cosmopolitan winter resort, it attracts everyone from die-hard skiers and A-listers to those who simply want to unwind in a picturesque alpine environment with all the comforts of home. The most compelling reasons for this are its proximity to Athens and its stunning mountain scenery, as well as its ultra-modern ski resort. Arachova is a favourite mountain resort of Athenians and is well-known for its lively nightlife in addition to its mountain activities. It’s situated 35 kilometres west of Livadeia.

    Delphi Archaeological Site

Delphi is considered the centre of the world. To honour the legend that Apollo appeared to the locals as a dolphin, the name “Delphi” was derived from the Greek word for dolphin. The Greek city of Delphi can be found in the province of Phocis. As the home of Pythia, the high priestess of Apollo, it has gained notoriety. The old name for Delphi was Pytho. Its proximity to the Gulf of Corinth is convenient. It was the city from which ancient humanity received prophecies and other forms of direction. It’s recommended to go up to the stadium too because the views are great.

The Stadium of Delphi lies on the highest spot of the Archaeological Site of Delphi. It overlooks the sanctuary of Apollo and has a view of the Delphic landscape. It was built either within the second half of the 4th century B.C. or even after the Galatian attacks. It measured 178 meters in length. The Stadium of Delphi is the best-preserved ancient stadium in Greece.

    Agios Vasileios Beach

Beautiful scenery, tranquil waves, and a lack of crowds make this beach ideal for setting up camp for a few days, too. This beautiful beach is surrounded by pine trees and lush vegetation. There’s a lovely beach bar too. You can even park on the beach for a longer stay.

    Day 3

Summary: Travel to Lake Trichonida on your trip to Olympia, but be careful of the roads. Today is a day off from archaeological sites –  Spend a day swimming, relaxing, and admiring the scenery. You will cross the spectacular Rion Antirion bridge before exploring the small streets of Olympia.

    Sights and activities:

    Lake Trichonida

Lake Trichonida is Greece’s largest natural lake. It is located in the central Greek region of Aetolia-Acarnania, southeast of Agrinio and northwest of Nafpaktos. Beautiful woodlands with maples, pines, and other trees surround the lake. More than 200 bird species can be found in the lake and its surroundings. It’s also an excellent camping location for a longer stay.

    Olympia town

Small, picturesque streets abound in this picturesque town. It’s home to an important archaeological site in the Greek region of Elis on the Peloponnese peninsula.

    Day 4

Summary: Spend the morning exploring Olympia’s museums and archaeological sites. Adventures, stunning scenery, and fun activities fill the day as you dive into the sea and then head off to cool down in the streams.

    Sights and activities:

    Olympia Archaeological Site and Museums

Olympia, a ruined ancient sanctuary, home of the ancient Olympic Games, and the former site of the massive Statue of Zeus, which had been ranked as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Olympia archaeological site is of exceptional cultural significance, and it is located in a beautiful area of the countryside with low, wooded hills interspersed with agriculture. Since 1989, it has been recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

    Paralia Voidokilias

Certainly, the most extraordinary beach in all of Greece. The lagoon’s beautiful water, the beach’s unique shape, and the surrounding mountains and rocks are all features that can’t be found anywhere else on the globe. The entire area is accessible by car, and parking is available on a dirt lot just 100 meters from the shore. Each dune is 750 meters in length and up to 20 meters in width. The incline can be rather sharp in a few spots. Because of the general shallowness of the harbour, the starting location for a swim is only about 50 meters away. Without hotels, restaurants, or other tourist trappings, this beach is ideal for anyone in search of a serene beach vacation. But it may be very crowded in the midst of the day, so don’t be surprised to see all these people here; just enjoy the place and scenery.

    Polilimnio Waterfalls

The Polilimnio waterfalls are located in the Polylimnio Gorge in the region of Messene, in the Peloponnese. In Greek, polilimnio translates to many lakes, and that’s what you’ll discover.
There are 15 little “hidden” lakes filled with fresh water with different and strange names, such as Mavrolimna, Kadi, Kadoula (which was named after its heart-like shape), Lucky’s, Italian’s, Panagos’s, and Stathoula’s.
Anybody who has trouble walking would find the path up the gorge to be quite arduous, although it is not very long. The trail is still quite rough, but some metal hoops have been installed in the rocks to aid you in getting over the larger ones.

A moderately challenging 3-kilometre hike through small canyons, lush foliage, and beautiful waterfalls will be an adventure you’ll never forget. When the water from the Mesopotamos River runs through the canyon and across the Tzane Bridge, it eventually reaches Messinian Bay. The cave where the colourful butterflies live is at the bottom of the canyon.

About 30 kilometres from Kalamata is where you’ll find the area with the waterfalls. Following the road from Kalamata to Pylos, travellers must stop through the villages of Kazarma and Charavgi before arriving in Polilimnio. The trailhead for the hike to Polilimnio is not far from Charavgi. If you plan on swimming, you’ll need to bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, a hat, water, and shoes that won’t slip if they get wet.

Polilimnio is often described as a paradise on earth and is one of the hidden gems of Messene.

    Day 5

Summary: It’s the last day, but there’s something more to see. Go to Epidaurus, and explore the city and the Epidaurus Archaeological site in the morning if you like snorkelling. The Sunken City of Epidaurus is a must.

    Sights and activities:

    Epidaurus Archaeological Site

Epidaurus, one of Greece’s most significant archaeological monuments, is located on the northeastern edge of the Peloponnese, a mere two-hour drive from Athens. During ancient times, the city thrived thanks to the Asklepieion, a hospital where people came to be cured by Apollo.

The shrine and healing centre at Epidaurus was widely visited in ancient times due to its reputation as the birthplace of Asclepius, the healer, and son of Apollo. People from all over Greece and Asia Minor would travel there in the hopes of being healed by god. Each patient would be assigned to a separate bed in a big sleeping hall (enkimeterio), and god Apollo would visit each patient in their dreams as part of the healing procedure. Every morning, patients would report their dreams to the priests of the sanctuary, who would then analyse them, make sense of them, and determine the best course of therapy.

Sunken City of Epidaurus – Kalymnios beach

At a depth of fewer than three meters, you can find the ancient ruins, which visitors can enjoy just with a sea mask and snorkel. Specifically, it is a Roman villa from the 2nd century AD, which was located very close to the Agora, opposite the ancient port and below the Acropolis of ancient Epidaurus.

The waters are so clear that you will be able to see house foundations, potteries, types of structural support, and floor sections.

At first, it can be challenging to find it, but just swim around and you’ll find it…

    Highlights

    Day 1

Summary: Arrive in Rovinj, look at the amazing views, relax and unwind on the beach, and walk through the streets of Pula.

    Sights and activities:

    Lim Fjord Panorama

Lim Fjord is part of the 35 km long Lim Valley (Draga), which stretches almost to the centre of Istria, to the town of Pazin. The Fiord itself is a little bit longer than 10 km, it is 30 meters deep, and its widest part is around 600 meters wide. From both sides, very steep mountains rise, in some parts even up to 100 meters.

The water in the bay is partly brackish because of its underwater sources of sweet water, and it is thus suitable for the growth of plant and animal life. It is also a well-known fish and oyster farm (oysters, mussels, gilthead, sea bass).

    Šuma Zlatni RT/Beach Zlatni Rt

Golden Cape is ideal for various sporting activities such as running, cycling, and gymnastics. The old quarry has been transformed into a paradise for lovers of free climbing. The park is perfect for a stroll. The whole area is closed to traffic from motor vehicles.

The beaches of Punta Corrente are worth a visit. As in the rest of the coast, there are rocky capes and pebble bays suitable for children. In several places along the coast, there are beach bars where you can refresh.

    Pula/Pula Arena

The Pula Arena is a Roman amphitheatre located in Pula, Croatia. It is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers entirely preserved. It was constructed between 27 BC and AD 68 and is among the world’s six largest surviving Roman arenas. The arena is also the country’s best-preserved ancient monument.

Pula is the largest city and cultural, economic, and tourist centre of the Istrian region in the Republic of Croatia. With its 3000-year-old history, Pula is one of the few cities in the world that features remains of many ancient Roman buildings. Every part of town is a reminder of past times, especially the Roman era.

    Day 2

Summary: Hike in the extraordinary Krka National Park and explore the beautiful waterfalls.

    Sights and activities:

    Krka Waterfalls

Many national parks have to be satisfied with being home to a single set of waterfalls, but the Krka National Park has several areas that feature this stunning geological attraction: Skradinski buk is considered to be the most beautiful set of calcium carbonate waterfalls in Europe, thanks to the play of light on the whirlpools and the variety of vegetation in the area. It is the lowest of the three waterfalls along the Krka River and comprises 17 different falls in total. Hiking through Krka National Park can take a full day.

    Day 3

Summary: Visit the biggest lake in Croatia, and explore the streets of Split.

    Sights and activities:

    Vransko Jezero

If you’re into camping, you can stay the night at Vraansko Jezero Campsite. There is everything you need for your stay: toilets, showers, a lake for swimming, hiking trails, and much more. You pay for the spot in different lines, closer and further from the lake. You can even book a small cabin for your stay, but in summer the campsite may be full, so book in advance.

Vrana Lakes Nature Park stretches over a vast area of around 57 km² and sits just a 5-minute drive from the beach resort village of Pakoštane. You can enter the park from either one of the three entrances to the lakes, which are Crkvine, Kamenjak, or Prosika Harbour.

The most ideal way to reach the lake, no matter which entrance you choose, is to come by car or pre-arrange transport or tour. Once here, you have an abundance of things to keep you busy.

    Split

Thanks to its many former rulers (Roman, Austrian, and Yugoslav, to name a few), Split is a European city unlike any other. What you get is a truly unique mix of architecture and history on every cobblestoned corner: ancient ruins, open-air flea markets, centuries-old cathedrals—it’s a city seemingly frozen in time. And just beyond you’ll find the Adriatic Sea, home to picturesque beaches and tranquil turquoise waters. Relax at Kašjuni or Bačvice Beaches, or use it as a launching-off point to other nearby islands.

    Day 4

Summary: Go on a full-day Island tour from Split on a motorboat, taste wine, and explore the islands as you go.

    Sights and activities:

Juraj, and the amazing view of the coastline city Omiš, the Cetina river, and Babnjača hill, altogether these views make a beautiful wide view. Take a moment to feel and see it all; it’s also a great spot for some interesting and beautiful photos.

    Plaža Bellevue

Secluded pebble beach that one can get to via steps that lead along the side of Hotel Rixos Libertas.
The beach is nestled in a deep, picturesque bay surrounded by steep cliffs and a large cave. There is a cafe bar/restaurant in the near vicinity, handy for drinks and snacks.
Bellevue is popular with locals as a swimming and cliff-jumping beach spot, while the whole area serves as a local water polo enthusiast’s paradise.

Due to its location, facing southeast, there is plenty of shade on the beach from the early afternoon, so it is a great spot to go swimming if you like to avoid the strong summer heat. Alternatively, if you are after the sun, the best time to enjoy this beach is in the early morning. During the windy days, the waters here can be pretty rough, so make sure you stay safe.

    Day 6

Summary: Go on a day trip to Lokrum Island from Dubrovnik port, explore the Island, and walk through Dubrovnik Old Town.

    Sights and activities:

    Lokrum Island

Lokrum Island, home to a botanical garden, salt lake, and Benedictine monastery dating back at least to 1023, is a great escape from the bustle of Dubrovnik. Travellers and locals alike visit this island for its idyllic walking paths, natural swimming pools, and colourful peacocks. It’s also popular among Game of Thrones fans as the filming location for Qarth.

A perfect day trip, boats regularly leave from Dubrovnik’s Old Town port and take just 15 minutes to get to Lokrum. An additional entrance fee is required on the island. Lokrum is busiest in the summer vacation months of July and August.

    Lokrum Main Beach

“Lokrum Main” is the best beach on Lokrum Island for jumping and diving. But if cliff jumping isn’t your thing, don’t worry, there are plenty of gentle sloping areas to wade into the sea. Just be sure to keep your eyes peeled for sharks in the Adriatic Sea!

If you fancy a clothing-optional beach paradise, you’ll find the Lokrum Island nude beach on the southeastern part of the island. The large rocks that surround the beach create a natural, secluded bay for additional privacy. You can find this beach by searching “FKK Beach” in Google Maps.

Before heading to the beach, get the perfect Instagram shot at this naturally occurring rock formation. Traverse over the rocks and boulders at Buža na Lokrumu, and explore all the beautiful nooks and crannies.

As You head back up from Dubrovnik around Split and Omiš You’ll find plenty of agencies providing rafting tours and it’s worth taking one, especially if You’re a lover of epic adventures, then this is the thing You have to do. Make sure to book this experience in advance because it’s a very popular activity in this area in summer, and you may not get a guide because they’ll be already booked. You can even choose different levels of whitewater rafting.

Izvor Cetine – The Eye Of The Earth

The very beginning of the Cetina River, ice cold water ranging from 4°C to 7°C, and stunning view from above – The Eye Of  The Earth…

It is an incredible karst spring located at the foothills of the Dinara mountain range in Croatia.

It has plenty of underwater caves and is an extreme paradise for divers. The Cetina River spring may be deeper than 100 meters and full of cave systems, where divers may be lucky if they make it out of there without getting lost. You may not imagine that, but the spring is full of rubbish that you can’t see from above.

    Day 8

Summary: Go on a day hike in Plitvice Lakes.

    Sights and activities:

    Plitvička Jezera

Plitvice Lakes is probably the most iconic place in Croatia. You know about it, and imagine it when hearing Croatia. So this is the peak of Your way through Croatia, but believe it or not, in summer it is not as good as You would imagine, not talking about views – views are incredible, but the people and crowds of people will be there and You’ll have to step on the other people heels to get forward if You don’t go early in the morning, anyway’s there will be crowds even in the morning, especially at the beginning of the trail, but it’s recommended to take the longest trail (Route K ) because eventually You’ll get rid of all the crowds and it will be a very enjoyable hike.

It’s recommended to start from Entrance 1, especially if you get here first thing in the morning. By starting from Entrance 1, you are walking slightly uphill most of the way, but you are walking towards the waterfalls on the lower lakes. That means that you always get to see them in front of you.

If you walk in the opposite direction, you will actually walk past some of the waterfalls and have to keep turning around to look at them.

Reserve your tickets in advance, one or two days before, to get there in the morning. You’ll have to wait till noon or the afternoon and stand in long lines to just get in there.

Boat and bus shuttles work throughout the day and are mostly included in the ticket, but make sure that they’re included because it will be easier to navigate through Plitvice Lakes by using some of the shuttles.

    Highlights

    Day 1

Summary: Arrive in Glossa Port, go Grocery shopping, and make Your way to Panormos – this is a family-friendly beachside village where You can stay the nights all week. In Panormos, You’ll find really good restaurants and bars, accommodations, a beach, of course, pine woods and trails too. But the closest Big Grocery shops will be in Skopelos-city or Glossa, some smaller shops You’ll find all around the island and also in Panormos – Market (Unnamed Road, Panormos 370 03, Greece).

    Sights and activities:

    Panormos

Go and explore Panormos – see what You can find there and get ready for the next day.

Panormos is one of the three ancient fortified towns of Skopelos. It’s located on the hillside of Paliokastro Hill. If You’re adventurous enough, You can hike up the hill where You can still find ruins in very good condition from the walls of the ancient city. From Paliokastro hill, You will find a path that leads to the cave of Panas. This place is called Spilia and is the only place of worship for the deity of Panas on Skopelos.

    Day 2

Summary: Today You’ll start exploring the nearest surroundings and places for a relaxing day by the sea, without crowds of tourists.

    Sights and activities:

    Panormos Beach

The pebble beach is enclosed in a stunning bay and consists of two small islets. It is a quite popular area with beautiful surroundings, many facilities, and an impressive, lush green setting.
Panormos Beach is great for swimming because the water deepens very fast, but there is enough space for children to play in the water.

Panormos Beach is probably the only beach with dark blue, clear water because of the depth of the sea.
The beach is accessible from the main road where You can park Your car and almost immediately get to a sun bed (owned by restaurants or nearby hotels – for a fee, such as ordering food or drink from a bar or restaurant) or pebbles of the beach.

Off-the-beaten-track chilling spot by the sea in Panormos

Just by going through the beach along the road when You go by Panormos Boat hire, You’ll find a dirt road and if You move forward along the fence on Your right You’ll see the path, now head to the sea and You’ll find a great spot for chilling and relaxing on the lawn under the trees or on the rocks next to the sea.

Tourists don’t go there, because they all just lie on the pebbles at the beach, but the owner is okay and doesn’t mind if You’re just chilling there and don’t leave Your rubbish there. There, Your hammock may be handy… It’s a great place to swim too, especially if You use Your snorkelling equipment, the sea there is shallower than at the beach, because of the underwater rocks.

    Gourmet Street Food

After a relaxing half day, You may want to get some great Greek food and yet sit back there in nature, eat, and enjoy the company of farm animals such as chickens, geese, turkeys, and donkeys. Gourmet Street Food is something like a fast food restaurant, but it’s a country food restaurant offering different kinds of Greek country foods.

It all happens in nature at the picnic tables. The food is very good and delicious. The place may be very busy in the summertime.

    Day 3

Summary: Today, You’re exploring some of the Mamma Mia filming locations. You’ll be swimming in one of the most beautiful beaches in Skopelos, hiking along the coast, and stepping up to a church on a rock.

    Sights and activities:

    Paralia Kastani

Kastani Beach is a small bay of white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. It may be difficult to get there for some because the road is very steep and bumpy, but short, and there are a lot of parking spaces even in the midst of summer.

But if You want to get the most out of visiting Kastani beach, You should go early in the morning or in the evening, because during the day, Mamma Mia movie tours will stop there many times, and the small beach then gets crowded when all of the people get off the ferry.

Make sure to hike along the coast because You may find some little bays and caves or cliffs for jumping into the water just for Yourself.

    Chapel of St. John (Ioannis)

Undoubtedly, all Mamma Mia filming locations on Skopelos are truly breathtaking and worth visiting. However, the star among all is the tiny chapel of Agios Ioannis, the location where Sophie’s and Sky’s wedding takes place.

Near the Chapel, there is a beach where You can go swimming. For more adventure, take Your snorkelling equipment and swim around the rock where the Chapel is located, before walking up the stairs to the Chapel.

Situated on top of a rock overlooking the ocean, the Chapel can be reached by climbing more than 200 narrow steps. As a reward, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the rugged coastline and the beach below.

The beach is gorgeous, but a couple of times a day, it gets really packed when excursion boats dock there. Usually, they leave after 1-1.5 hours, then you’ll have the beach almost to yourself again.

If You go there on Your own in Your own or a rental car, be prepared for narrow one-way roads with beautiful views, and drive slowly and carefully.

    Day 4

Summary: Today You’re visiting a small fishing village mostly visited by locals and chilling in the most scenic spot in Skopelos.

    Sights and activities:

    Agnontas

This is the city where, in the Mamma Mia movie, Donna sings Money, Money, Money and imagines being rich.
The fishing village itself is relatively small, with just a few taverns and a beach mostly visited by locals. It’s a nice place to have lunch, though or watch the sunset at the coves nearby.

    Amarandos Cove

Located along a rocky road, you will find the breathtaking coastline of Amarandos, consisting of small islands, rocky coves, and mesmerising turquoise water. This snorkelling paradise is not easy to find.

When you travel through Agnontas, keep an eye open for a barely readable sign saying Amarandos on the right side of the road. Whereas if you come from the east, the sign will be to your left.  The surroundings at Cape Amarandos were used for the scene where Sophie runs through the pines singing ‘Honey, Honey’ while she reads parts of her mother’s diary.

Unfortunately, the real pine forest where they filmed the scene was caught by fire years ago, and almost all the pines are gone, but the area is getting better now.

Now is the time to catch a view of three pines where they filmed the idyllic sailing scenes of Sophie and her three potential fathers to the song ‘Our Last Summer’. These pines are now the symbol of Skopelos and are one of the most photographed landmarks on the island and among the most famous natural landmarks in Greece.

It’s so easy to spend all day there, especially if You have a hammock with You because the distance between pines is great for hanging a hammock. The sunset there is amazing, and You can swim there and jump into the water from the rocks.

    Day 5

Summary: Today You’ll be visiting another beach where Mamma Mia took place and exploring Skopelos City, which is the biggest city on the island.

    Sights and activities:

    Paralia Glisteri

Glysteri Beach is a small, beautiful pebble beach with a footbridge from where You can jump in the water.  The beach is great and very beautiful, there is maintained parking, a beach bar, and sun beds. You can leave Your car only in the parking because the place is something like private property, and You will have to pay for Your parking and staying on the beach.

You can choose how to pay for it, for example, You can buy a coffee in the beach bar or rent a sunbed for Your stay, but You will have to pay something. Sunbeds may be reserved in the summer, so if You want a sunbed, book it in advance.

If talking about water there, they are taking good care of the beach, but if You swim closer to buoys and nets and behind them, You will find the water pretty dirty and full of rubbish.
Undoubtedly, the surroundings are very beautiful You can even find cliffs nearby to jump into the water further from the beach.

When discussing the Mamma Mia movie, it was filmed at this beach, where Donna’s friends arrived and jumped into the water from the cliffs while Sophie sailed with her potential fathers.

    Skopelos

Skopelos Town is the first village one sees while reaching the port. This little town, which is the capital and main port of Skopelos, is quite picturesque with lovely whitewashed houses, flower gardens, and colourful balconies. Its fountains, its many little whitewashed churches, narrow streets, and alleys compose the beautiful setting of the village.

The town is built amphitheatrically amidst lush surroundings with a long labyrinth of alleys reaching the top of the hill where the ancient castle lies. At the bottom of the town, at the port where most of the activities take place during the summer, you will find plenty of restaurants, shops, and modern accommodations.

The picturesque Skopelos town has been designated as a heritage settlement. Numerous steep footpaths lead to some of the most beautiful sites of Chora (as the locals call it), like the 13th-century castle. Today, only the ruins of the outer walls have survived.

Inside the castle walls is the oldest church of the town, the 17th-century Basilica of Agios Athanassios, whose initial edifice was built in the 9th century on the ruins of a temple dedicated to Athena. The panoramic view from the top of the castle is breathtaking and truly magical.

In the heart of the town, there are many churches and monasteries to visit and the beautiful Folklore Museum that displays a fine collection of ceramics, paintings, frescoes, photos, and other traditional objects from Skopelos.

Kraken | Seaside Drink & Dine

Kraken | Seaside Drink and Dine – is one of the best bars and restaurants in Panormos, where many tourists dine out and drink while gazing at the Panormos beach in the daytime. But in the evening, the place still may be busy, they have great cocktails and dishes to offer, and they’re good.

You can just eat and drink there whenever You want, and the prices are good for everything You get. Sometimes service may be slower than You expect, but it’s worth the wait.

    Day 6

Summary: Today You will be exploring Skopelos from the water while riding around Skopelos in a motorboat. Continue to explore Skopelos city and eat the most delicious Skopelos Pie in Skopelos.

    Sights and activities:

Boat ride around Skopelos from Neo-Klima

Rent a boat in Neo-Klima, but do it a couple of days in advance because boat renting is a real business there, and You may not get a boat if You do not rent it in advance. The best is to rent Your boat on the first days when You’re in Skopelos.

Then jump in Your boat and listen to instructions and go on an Epic adventure around the island on the water, because You’ll see all the places You’re already been once more, but from a different viewpoint with Your own boat, and enjoy the life of the locals too.

You’ll be able to visit great places and swimming spots you didn’t know about and couldn’t get to without a boat. And of course, You’ll be in these places almost only by Yourself with fewer people around, You can swim through caves and look at great views. The places You must stop by while on the boat will be pinned on the map above, so make sure to look through them.

Michalis Skopelos Pies – Skopelos Town

Visit Skopelos once more, and it’s obligatory to eat a Skopelos Pie in Michalis Skopelos Pies – even Pierce Brosnan was there when filming Mamma Mia, and the pie is just amazing, and the owner of the place is great and welcoming. It’s not so popular among tourists, but it may be busy. But before going there, carefully look for the working hours, so You can really try their pies out.

    Day 7

Summary: Today You may go on a hike, or just relax by the sea in some beautiful place, watch a sunset over Kastani beach, and take stunning photos in the golden hour. Don’t forget to catch up with the best cocktails in Kraken.

    Sights and activities:

    Hiking on Skopelos Island

Skopelos is the greenest island of the Aegean and the Northern Sporades. It is considered the greenest island in Greece because 80% of the island is covered in lush pine forests. Landscapes may be so exotic since the green of nature combines with the turquoise of the beaches and the deep blue waters of the sea.
Skopelos is a great Island to be in nature and discover its beauty while hiking because the distances will not be so long and the Island is full of popular and not-so-popular hiking trails taking You into nature and being on the greenest island in Greece. The views from any of the trails will be worth seeing and enjoying, just to relax and be in the lush nature of the island. So here are the most popular trails in Skopelos:

    • Palio Klima to Loutraki and Glossa
    • Skopelos to Monasteries and Palouki Peak
    • Delphi Peak – Sentoukia Carved Tombs

All the trailheads are pinned on the map. Click on them and then open the link given in the description to open the trail in the All Trails App.

    OR

    Relax by the sea

The coastline of Skopelos is amazing, combining the beautiful waters with the pines; it’s a great place to be and relax. If You’re good with hanging a hammock in pine trees by the sea, relaxing, having fun, eating snacks, and repeating all day long, just do it because it’s worth just taking in the views, scents, and sounds of a banging sea, waves, and warm wind. The best place to do it may be along the road to Amarandos Cove because it’s accessible. You don’t have to walk long distances, the sun shines all day, and the pines give You the shade for a relaxing and not so hot day, and You may barely find someone there next to You.

Create a Photoshoot In The Golden Hour

While driving around Skopelos on roads surrounded by Pine forests during golden hour, one can’t help but jump out of the car and see all the surrounding beauty, enlightened by warm light and lush greenery around. The roads during the golden hour just look incredible, and it’s worth capturing this beauty, for the days You really need the motivation to move on and explore the world around us. So do it, find a perfect spot on the road, and capture the moments.

    Sunset at Paralia Kastani

I would say that Kastani Beach is my absolute favourite among the other beaches on the island. The sunset on this beach is so beautiful that You must stay there and accompany the sun on its way to the next day. Just stay there and relax in a magnificent atmosphere You can find it there while sitting on the rocks surrounded by pine trees and the sea.

    Day 8

Summary: Finally eat an amazing breakfast in Kraken and then head to Your next adventures on the Island or wherever You’re going next.
